The National Education Association (NEA) will be kicking off their Read Across America Campaign on March 2 (Dr. Seuss’ birthday), and Taylor Swift and her Lorax co-stars are doing their part to help!! Taylor and the cast recently taped a video promotion for the campaign in which they speak in a “Seuss style” poem about the importance of reading.
Taylor’s line is especially appropriate considering her recent involvement with promoting literacy among children:
“to pick up a book and read with a child.”
Earlier this month, Taylor donated 14,000 books to the Nashville public library with a donation plate saying “A Gift to the Children of Nashville from Taylor Swift and Scholastic Inc,” and back in October, made a similar donation of 6,000 books to the Reading Public Library system.
The NEA’s Read Across America campaign is an annual endeavor dedicated to helping kids celebrate their love of reading on March 2. They also provide fantastic resources and activities to keep children reading every day of the year!!
